No, I Don’t Want To Buy A Timeshare!

Don’t you just hate the letters and phone calls you receive about some great opportunity to buy timeshares or some other asset that you are “pre-approved” for?  I sure do!  I just hate these solicitations.  My shredder stays busy disposing of the written offers and I hardly ever answer my home phone anymore.  The calls are 99% solicitations of some sort.  Disgusting!

TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST! (for 5 years anyway!)

I did find that there is a way to STOP receiving “prescreened” offers of credit.  Here are the details:

1-  Call toll free:  1-888-567-8688.  Indicate you want to opt-out of all prescreen notices.  You have to provide secure information, but don’t worry about this.  You are calling the consumer credit reporting industry opt in and opt out number.

2-  Visit the website:

3-  Send real letters to the credit bureaus requesting to be removed from all pre-screened offers.

Here are the companies to write to.  Be sure you write to all 3 of them:

Transunion Opt Out Request – POB 505, Woodlyn, PA 19094-0505

Experian Information Systems, Inc. – POB 919, Allen, TX  75013

Equifax Options – POB 740123, Atlanta, GA  30394-0123

I’m told the prescreen removal is only good for 5 years and then you need to resubmit.  No problem, I’ve saved the number and the website and the addresses.  Hope you will as well!
